Coffee House “Varka” 60 sq.f.

Varka is a chain of coffee houses. Cafés are located in different cities in Belarus, and new locations are every now and then open and start their work. We are constantly collaborating with this famous brand, and this time the owners again invited our team to work on a new project.

Varka: the Perfect Coffee in the Perfect Location

Since Varka is a well-known brand in Minsk, in this project we decided to keep the corporate identity of the café (by the way, our team was also involved in its creation). And at the same time, we carefully studied the target audience. The new Varka was located in a youth area, and the main visitors were to be young people. So, the design of the coffee shop had to match their lifestyle.

After a discussion with the client, we developed several basic ideas.

First, this coffee shop should become a place for meetings and communication. After all, young people come to cafés not only to drink coffee. Friends or classmates meet here, they talk, discuss things, and joke, so there should be enough space for everyone. So we added many tables in the space. Moreover, we have planned several seating options. There are tables for two, tables for three or four persons, and there is a bench for a large group of visitors, etc.

Second, delicious coffee is what Varka is known for, and it’s important to emphasize this. That’s why we have provided here a wide bar counter, with a lot of kitchen appliances in the background. The bar counter is located near the entrance, and the barista can greet guests. At the same time, we understood how important it was: to have a lot of people in the coffee shop, but not a crowd. Therefore, we left a large free space near the entrance, so visitors did not crowd around the bar.

And thirdly, it was important for us to preserve Varka’s corporate identity, but to give this coffee shop special features. That’s why we used corporate colors: gray, black, and warm brown. Additionally, we used color accents such as ‘rust’, ‘green’, and ‘bronze’ in different parts of the interior. Rust is echoed by a backlit box in the central part of the interior. It does look stylish, but it also adds a soft yellow color to the warm lighting of Varka. These warm light and rich black-gray-rusty tones are perfectly visible through the panoramic windows, and make you want to look into a cozy café on a frosty evening.
