Varka Coffee House
Varka Coffee House is a regular client of ours. We have been working together for a long time and were involved in designing the network of these Minsk coffee shops. Varka has transformed from a local coffee shop into a major franchise, and last year the first coffee shop opened in Russia. In this regard, the Varka manager asked us to create a design project for the first Moscow coffee shop of this franchise.
Our team’s assignment was to explore the concept, aesthetics, and functionality of the new space. Before beginning the design process, we thoroughly reviewed all requirements with the kitchen technologist. We discussed the equipment necessary, the quirks of cooking, and how chefs work. Therefore, we realized that we need to spend about half of a 90-square-meter space on the kitchen. Of course, this added complexity to the designers, since there were now only 45 square meters left for the guest room and the bar. And the owners of the coffee shop were preparing for a large influx of guests, and every meter was important here. But only by making the kitchen spacious enough, it was possible to guarantee the correct preparation of dishes.
Our client wanted to achieve a comfortable, homey interior design, but the design still had to be understandable to young people. Therefore, we decided to use copper panels and wood for the interior. The sightseeing, expensive solid furniture and unique fittings add to the originality of the interior.
We created the entire interior, and it was perfect in terms of ergonomics. We have taken every measure necessary to ensure that chefs are able to prepare nutritious breakfasts, lunches and dinners, and that baristas are able to brew delicious coffee. We thought about the visitors who come to have coffee and relax, as well as the people who would like to work in a pleasant environment. Furthermore, we paid special attention to the coffee shop’s panoramic windows: warm, soft lighting has been installed at the bottom, which will draw attention. When you walk past these windows on a frosty evening or a rainy day, you just want to look into the coffee shop.
This decision was a success. The Varka coffee shop is always busy with visitors, and they all appreciate the stylish and cozy interior.
